The Mat-Su Valley Sees Job Growth in 2009

The Mat-Su Valley area of Alaska has shown real growth in population and in job opportunities in 2009, as reported by the Frontiersman.  The Valley’s economy has fared considerably better than the rest of the nation, with a 3 percent increase in the number of jobs over the first three quarters of last year; this percentage translates to some 600 new jobs being added to the local Mat-Su Valley economy from January to September alone.  Most of this growth, like in other parts of the country, could be seen in government and health care sectors.   However, the retail, professional, business services and leisure sector saw job growth as well, which is not seen prevalently in other states.
