The Alaska Railroad has scheduled an open house today for the public to review and comment on the proposed 2012 projects. Yesterday was the first open house event, from 4-6:30p.m. at the Anchorage Historic Depot and showcased the capital improvement projects that are in the works and those proposed for this year. The second scheduled open house will be today from 4-6:30 p.m. at Evangelo’s Restaurant in Wasilla AK. Community members will be able to listen to project managers explain the developments that will be located along the railroad system and have special emphasis on the projects concerning the Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska area. Among the projects for 2012 are two special rail extensions including a bridge over the Tanana River at Salcha, and the first two construction phases of the Port MacKenzie Rail Extension.
