The city of Wasilla AK is looking into the annexation of a borough the size of West Virginia, as reported in the Frontiersman this month.  Although the city had already been looking into expanding the city limits, new options were recently presented due to requests from property owners outside the city.  The city council has instructed the planning department to commence in preparing an annexation petition to present to the state’s Local Boundary Commission; accordingly, the planning department is currently reviewing the land and will present a finalized petition later this month.  The land under review totals over 17 square miles and will more than double the size of Wasilla in terms of both property and population.
